From Creating Documents to Processing Them in an External Web App

You have created your document via SmartDocuments. Once completed, this document is, in many cases, saved and archived in the organization’s own system. It is also possible that this is just one step in the document creation process and the document still has a journey to make in an application other than SmartDocuments. In such cases, how do you link SmartDocuments to an external application?

SmartDocuments as Part of a Larger Process

In many cases, SmartDocuments forms is the document creation tool within an organization. Employees create their documents in the SmartDocuments environment, save the final result and/or send the document directly from this environment to the right person. In this way, it is a complete process within the capabilities offered by SmartDocuments. It can also happen that the document creation in SmartDocuments is only a part of a larger process. A process in which other applications also play a role. For example, because items or functions need to be added to the document, or because a document is completed in another application in the process.

A Lightweight Solution for Integrations

To be able to store created documents in another system, SmartDocuments is linked to that system. Such an integration is often easy to achieve, but still a fairly heavy tool and not always necessary. Suppose, for example, that as an organization you prefer to work online. Or, as previously mentioned, suppose the SmartDocuments piece is only part of the document creation process. Then choose redirecting: a lightweight solution that allows you to redirect to an external Web application in the document creation process.

This way, only a small connection to an internal system (think CRM, ERP, DMS) is needed, and the document can be redirected to a web address for further editing with the click of a button. This is also ideal when you want to give another party access to the document easily and quickly.
